WACOSS

WAVE Training

In 2004, 6.3 million Australians over the age of 18 years were active volunteers, donating on average 132 hours per year of their time.

The Western Australian Volunteering Essentials (WAVE) was developed by the Volunteering Secretariat, Office for Seniors Interests and Volunteering and the Western Australian Council of Social Service (WACOSS).

WAVE is a condensed training program aiming to increase the confidence of individuals and organisations in the management of volunteers. WAVE is designed to outline the most critical aspects that a busy or unpaid person managing a community organisation needs to understand to ensure their volunteer program is efficient and effective. A series of metro and regional one day workshops will be conducted.

They will cover topics such as:

  • Effective recruitment and screening including police checks
  • Reward and recognition
  • Risk management
